Handrails for new Manchester Hotel
It’s always a pleasure to win local work. Handrail Creations were appointed by TMJ Contractors to survey, manufacture, install and French polish a new sapele handrail over 5 floors in Hotel Indigo. Whilst the stairs were part of a grade II building refurbishment, the hotel also features a state of the art new 14 floor rotunda.
Our role was to assess the condition of the handrail and balustrade in the original building, then digitally survey the steel to ensure that new components fitted on a not-so-perfect 150 year old stone staircase when the spindles and handrail were replaced like for like. To do this we machined the underside of the handrail to compensate for any twist and deviation in the steel, whilst the centreline of the handrail stayed true.
The 100mm x 72mm handrail was fitted by our expert team, then French polished to match the colour and tone of the original. We hope this one will be around for another 150 years – images below show before and after we worked our magic. If there is a handrail refurbishment project that you have in mind, please get in touch
