Somerset House Secured

One reason why we’re the market leading timber handrail company is our understanding of heritage project, including staircases in listed buildings. Since 2014 we have worked on the Houses of Parliament, Chatsworth House and various embassies in London.

Handrail Creations have recently secured a handrail contract for 6 new staircases at Somerset House. The Grade I listed Courtauld Institute of Art is a world famous art gallery and part of the University of London. Sir Robert McAlpine are delivering the £39m revamp including new and refurbished steel staircases with oak and sapele handrails including public staircases.

The continuous handrails will link various areas of the building and will also be the main visitors stairs in reception.

Handrail Creations Director Kenny Macfarlane notes:

“We’re thrilled to be appointed for the handrails in another historic listed building. It’s clear that the UK market is growing in confidence, as are our team. We have a full order book going into summer 2021 and this is a feather-in-the-cap project that demonstrates why we’re the preferred handrail supplier for major commercial and heritage projects.”
