Argyll Road
Residential Property
In our recent project in London, we produced a stunning European Oak handrail for a luxury design and build company.
The handrail was designed with a traditional profile, made with a groove to follow a steel core rail that had been installed by others. Part of our brief was to conceal the core rail and ensure the timber was perfectly smooth. The handrail was a continuous feature through four floors, adding both a practical safety feature and a touch of elegance to the exclusive family home. In addition to the main handrail, we also created some ‘rams horns’ and wall-mounted handrails for extra stairs in the house, ensuring a consistent and cohesive look throughout the entire home.
The client specified exactly what colour they wanted, and so we brief our French polisher to mix the correct shade on site – then stained, polished and waxed the handrail by hand.
We don’t always install to a steel core rail. For more information about if / when a core rail is required, why not take a read of our previous article here.
