A private client near London instructed us to manufacture and install curved wooden handrails and spindles to create a custom-made balustrade for her stone-clad curved concrete staircase, running over three floors.

We chose Ash for the timber and stained it dark in contrast to the painted joinery work in the house. Spindles were made from a 16mm diameter steel bar, with fabricated decorative ‘collars’ every other spindle which helps to visually break up the balustrade.

The 300 balustrade pickets were powder coated with a velvet black finish and chemically fixed into the handrail with no core rail or welding required. The balustrade and handrail were made in a matter of weeks and installed in time for the client’s remarkable self-build project.
