Formby luxurious residential Liverpool staircases handrails black walnut 5 axis CNC machine helical handrail French polish

Formby

The Formby project is a luxurious residential development located near Liverpool with one of the most unique and impressive staircases we’ve ever worked on – the award winning floating staircase was made by The Stonemasonry Company, with glass balustrading fitted by Taylorhood Metalworks, then chunky black walnut handrails sitting on top.

We used hand-picked prime grade black walnut that was sustainably sourced, precision machined on our 5 axis CNC machines and the installed to cap off the stairs. There were over 50 metres of curved and helical handrail in total, which was French polished on site to add warmth and compliment the use of natural materials throughout the build.

The collaboration between the three companies has resulted in a development that is undeniably beautiful and unique.
