Infil is out

Using infil strips is a traditional way to install square spindles (balusters) underneath timber handrails.

Typically, a groove is machined at the same width as the spindles, then when they are positioned, infil ‘strips’ are used to fill the gaps to leave a flush underside. This works wonderfully on straight staircases, but what about on curved stairs?

Our team can program and CNC machine curved and twisting infil pieces to suit even the most complex of handrails if required.

However, we can also machine / mortice individual ‘pockets’ in the underside of the handrail which is a neater, faster and more cost effective solution. This also speeds up the installation time with no cutting twisting infil pieces and retro-fitting to the handrails.
